Malcolm McDowell is an English actor, best known for his roles in the films A Clockwork Orange, If...., O Lucky Man!, Caligula, Time After Time, Cat People, Star Trek Generations, and Tank Girl. He has also appeared in many television series, including Entourage, Heroes, and The Mentalist. McDowell was born in Horsforth, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, the son of Edna (née McDowell), a hotelier, and Charles Taylor, a publican. He is of English, Scottish, and Irish descent. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and began his career in the 1960s, appearing in numerous British television programs. McDowell's breakthrough role came in 1971, when he starred in the controversial film A Clockwork Orange, directed by Stanley Kubrick. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including If...., O Lucky Man!, Caligula, Time After Time, Cat People, Star Trek Generations, and Tank Girl. McDowell has also appeared in numerous television series, including Entourage, Heroes, and The Mentalist. He has been married three times, and has four children.
