Curtis Martin Biography
Curtis Dixon was born on May 1, 1973, to parents Rochella Dixon and Curtis Sr. His father would later abandon the family when he returned to drugs and alcohol, forcing Curtis’ mother to support the family on her own. As a result, she had to work three jobs. Curtis had a difficult childhood because he frequently got himself into trouble.
Curtis’ grandmother, Eleanor Johnson, was murdered with a knife, and later, he had a near-death experience when a loaded gun’s trigger was pointed at him and pulled, though the gun never fired.
Curtis and his mother later moved to Point Breeze, where he attended Taylor Allderdice High School. His athletic ability was evident in school, and he went on to become a star on the football team. Martin graduated from Allderdice in 1991 and was inducted into the school’s alumni hall of fame in 2011.
